Attire for this event is modest but casual. Tickets are sold in the Tuition Office; a signed parental permission slip is required. Last year, the Back-to-School Dance was themed “Jungle of Soul” and this year it was the “Wild Wild West”. Get your tickets early, because this event has been a sell-out almost every time!
The Jingle Jam
What better way to celebrate the spirit of Christmas than joining with friends and classmates at Hallahan’s favorite holiday dance? This dance is held at school on a Friday evening in December. Students can come solo or invite a date, but your attire should be kicked up a notch! All classes are invited; however, a signed parental permission slip is required. Tickets may be purchased in the Tuition Office. A professional photographer, DJ and caterer are used for this event to make it memorable. And you never know when Santa might make an appearance.
Underclass Gala
The Freshmen and Sophomores celebrate in style at this dual-class dance. This event is held on a Friday evening at Hallahan. A committee of students works with the Assistant Principal for Student Affairs to select a theme, decorations and refreshments for the dance. A professional photographer and DJ add to the aura. This dance provides an opportunity for the underclass students to show their own unique Hallahan pride and style. It is always an energetic and exciting evening! Students may come individually or with a date; signed parental permission slips are required. Tickets may be purchased in the Tuition Office.

This annual semi-formal dance for juniors and their escorts is held at an off-site location. Appropriate attire for girls includes semi-formal dresses, and suits, ties and dress shoes for their escorts. Flowers are permitted. Pictures are taken by Gurcsik Studios at an extra cost. A parent or guardian of each junior must attend the Prom Meeting with their daughter in order for the student to attend this event (tickets will not be sold to a student unless a parent was present at the meeting). The Prom Meeting is held on a weeknight a few weeks prior to the Prom date. In order to attend the prom, students must be in good disciplinary standing and must be up-to-date on all tuition and fees. This year, the Junior Prom will be held on Friday, April 21 at the Crowne Plaza on Market Street.

Other Events:
Hallahan Day
Hallahan Day is a beloved event that takes place on the last Friday of October! It has been a tradition since at least the 1950’s! The purpose of this day is to celebrate the sisterhood and friendships shared by “the Girls of the Hallahan High”!
- Every year, freshmen are assigned “Big Sisters” in the Junior class. The Big Sisters welcome and mentor their Little Sisters, who are the newest members of our school family. Students move up with their sisters: Sophomores and Seniors maintain the Big & Little Sister bond. On Hallahan Day, the Juniors invite the Freshmen to the Big and Little Sister Breakfast where an overabundance of cakes, muffins and pastries sweetens everyone up!
- On the morning of Hallahan Day, students are free to mingle and celebrate with their Big and Little Sisters. Typically, they exchange simple tokens of appreciation (candy, flowers, ribbons, stuffed animals or HH items). The excitement can be felt as soon as you walk into the building on this momentous day! And, get your cameras ready because many pictures are taken of friends, classmates and, of course, Sisters!
- It is a tradition for the Senior Class to write, rehearse- and on this special day- to perform the Hallahan Day Show! This good-natured show pokes a bit of fun at the teachers and features the entire Senior class singing and dancing their hearts out! Freshmen, Sophomores and Juniors all see the show in school on Hallahan Day.
- An evening performance of the Hallahan Day Show is performed for family, friends and Alumnae. Tickets for this show must be purchased in advance in the Tuition Office.
School Rings & Ring Mass
Students have the privilege of ordering a class ring in the Junior year. Students may select design features to personalize their rings, however, the stone and school seal are traditionally preset on every Hallahan ring. A Josten's representative will visit Hallahan in September to take orders and deposits. Balances for rings may be paid to Hallahan through the Tuition Office. All members of the Junior class are encouraged to attend and participate in the Ring Mass. The Ring Mass is held in early spring at the Cathedral of Saints Peter & Paul. A committee of Juniors plans the Mass to make it unique to their class. Parents, family and friends are invited to join the Juniors on this special night. Many traditions surround the presentation and “turning” of the school ring!
(Note: Students must be up-to-date on tuition, fees and have fully paid for the ring in order to receive the ring at the Mass. Only official Hallahan High School class rings ordered through the school will be presented at the Mass.)
Graduation
The Baccalaureate Mass and Graduation take place in one ceremony at the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul on the Parkway. Traditionally, Hallahan is always the first of the Archdiocesan High Schools to graduate each year! The Mass and Graduation ceremony are planned by a committee of Seniors; every detail, down to the readings, music and prayers are chosen to make the event more meaningful and personal for the Graduates. Administration, faculty and graduates attend in full academic attire. The setting of the Cathedral makes this momentous event even more glorious and reverent!
(Note: Each graduate receives a designated number of tickets for the ceremony; no one is admitted without a ticket. Each member of the senior class will pay a Graduation Fee to cover the cost of caps & gowns, programs, musicians, rentals, etc. This fee must be paid in the Tuition Office by October. In the spring, each senior who is eligible will receive a Graduation Packet that includes the academic attire, graduation announcements and tickets.).
