Mr. Barkley, PE is a non-traditional teacher - This is his second career. Rich has a BS degree in Nuclear Engineering from the Pennsylvania State University. There he was among the first class of graduates from a program that is now called Schreyner's Honor College. His MS degree is in Environmental Engineering from Drexel University. He has been a licensed Professional Engineer in Pennsylvania since 1991. He retired in 2018 as a senior engineer for the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, a career which had him stationed at nuclear plants in New Hampshire and New York, traveling to inspect 1/3 of the nuclear plants in the East, facilitating public meetings across the country, and even at one point writing speeches for the Chairman of the NRC, a Presidential appointee.
Mr. Barkley taught 19 college math classes at four area colleges between 1995 - 2017 while working for the NRC as well as worked as a tutor for the Mathnasium in Paoli and Above Grade Tutoring in Exton. He resides in Phoenixville with his wife, a retired music teacher, and loves to downhill ski and swim.
